Douglas M. Spector, Esq.

Doug’s primary areas of practice include all aspects of commercial and residential real estate acquisitions and dispositions, as well as estate planning and probate, general corporate and business law. His real estate and corporate experience includes dealing with 1031 exchanges as well as the creation and organization of ownership entities and structures. Doug is also experienced in representing landlords and tenants in drafting and negotiating commercial leases, as well as representing sellers and buyers in real estate acquisitions and dispositions. Doug has also represented lenders and borrowers in all facets of real estate lending and borrowing. His clients include franchisees of such well known franchises as Dunkin’ Donuts, Quiznos and Massage Envy as well as nationally recognized real estate investment companies and banks. Doug is a member of the New York State Bar Association and that Association’s Trusts & Estates Law and Real Estate Law Sections.

Doug graduated from Union College in 1981 and the Fordham University Law School in 1984. While at Fordham, he was selected and served as an editor of the Urban Law Journal. He was admitted to the bar in 1985. After working for the law firms of Epstein, Becker & Green and Wormser, Kiely, Galef & Jacobs, Doug established his own practice in 1990. In 2001 he merged his practice with the law firm of Rothkrug & Rothkrug becoming a name partner in Rothkrug Rothkrug & Spector, LLP.

Doug’s community involvement includes his three year term as President of the Men’s Division of the Children’s Medical Fund of New York, a non-profit organization which is the single largest contributor to Schneider Children’s Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He has also participated for the last 5 years in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a 200 mile two day charity bike race across the State of Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. In addition, Doug serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Great Neck Soccer Club and is actively involved with the youth of the community as a soccer coach.

Doug lives in Great Neck with his wife, Ossie, an Executive Director Sr. VP at JP Morgan Chase in their Treasury Liquidity and Investment Product Group, and their daughter, Sara. Their oldest son, Daniel, is a member of the Class of 2011 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Their son Eric, is a member of the Class of 2013 at Union College in Schenectady, New York.
